Speech and Language Pathologist (Elementary) - 2026-27

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team at Lake Shore Public Schools for the 2026-27 academic year. This full-time position involves working with elementary students to assess, diagnose, and provide therapeutic interventions for speech and language disorders. The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student success and enhance communication skills in a nurturing educational environment. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech and language disorders in elementary students. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Provide direct therapy services to students in both one-on-one and group settings. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment for students with communication challenges. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and provide strategies for supporting speech and language development at home. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of educational strategies for students with diverse needs. Stay current with best practices in speech and language pathology and participate in professional development opportunities. Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district policies and state regulations. Advocate for students' needs and promote awareness of speech and language disorders within the school community. Requirements Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist; ASHA certification preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting highly desirable. Strong knowledge of speech and language development, assessment techniques, and therapeutic interventions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and staff. Proficient in using technology and software for documentation and therapy purposes. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Work Schedule Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract. Physical Requirements Works in standard school environment. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Communicate successfully through speaking with a variety of persons. Sit and stand extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech in classroom levels, and throughout the school building.
