Parking Cashier - Driving

Responsibilities Our OHSU client is seeking a new valet assist/cashier attendant for the South Waterfront campus. Shift: 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM Pay Rate: $18.00 /hour This is a closing position for a valet assist lot. It also provides break relief and backfill for cashiers and attendants in nearby locations. The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications: Previous customer service experience required. Previous parking and cashiering experience highly desired. Driving required; ability to drive manual transmission a plus. MUST be alert and able to handle multiple parkers simultaneously. Clean driving record to pass MVR check necessary. NOTE: This position does not receive tips. Responsibilities include: Be at work every scheduled day, on time, and in uniform. Count the “bank” of revenue at the beginning of shift to ensure starting total is correct. Collect cash and/or validations and maintain security of cash. Makes change and issues receipts or tickets to customers for each transaction. Compute or recompute bill from ticket showing amount due per customer. Operate cash register after time calculation (manually or by machine), displays cost of customer transaction. Quote prices for parking services for which money is received upon customer receipt. Give directions to customers to various locations in the city. Complete lost ticket forms when original tickets cannot be located. Resolve customer complaints independently or with the aid of a supervisor. Answer telephone in a prompt and courteous manner. Maintain cleanliness of booth and pick up trash in the surrounding area. Conduct timely checks to see if a proper inventory of necessary work aids and supplies are located in booth. Verify log of shift transactions against bank of “revenue” on hand. Compile “bank” of collected revenue during the day once a predetermined amount of money has been collected. Record amounts received, cars in/out of facility during shift report of transactions. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following list outlines required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Education: less than high school education or up-to one month related experience or training or equivalent combination. Availability: special shift requirements may vary; availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends may be required. License: valid state‑issued driver’s license with current address and acceptable driving record. Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units, make change. Language skills: read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence; write simple correspondence; present information effectively to customers, clients, supervisors and other employees. Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out detailed standard written or oral instructions; handle problems with few variables. Other skills: use clock, calculator (optional) or credit card machine; maintain pleasant demeanor on telephone and with public; respond to customer problems or complaints. Physical demands: regularly sit, use hands to handle objects, occasionally walk; near vision required.
