Summary As a Supervisory Attorney Advisor (Civil Rights) at the GS-0905-14, you will be part of Investigations and Compliance Division, Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The incumbent serves as a legal advisor responsible for supervising and overseeing the Office's Equal Opportunity Investigations and Compliance Programs. Duties Supervises the investigation of discrimination complaints filed by agency employees, applicants for employment, and persons involved with any Commission program or activity under federal EEO statutes and regulations. Supervises the investigation of discrimination complaints filed by persons involved with any Commission program or activity under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Ensures that impartial investigations are conducted by subordinate employees. Provides technical assistance to agency officials facilitating settlement agreements. Provides and maintains an agency-wide pre-complaint counseling program by supervising the conduct of pre-complaint counseling, intake screening, and pre-investigative analysis of discrimination which may lead to informal resolution, including ADR. Monitors and reports on compliance by EEOC offices with the requirements of the agency's overall EEO program and, where necessary, recommends appropriate action to ensure compliance. Reviews and develops investigative reports, and final agency decisions for review and approval by the Chair. If selected, must maintain active bar membership in good standing while employed as an attorney with EEOC This position is in the Excepted Service Qualifications For the GS-14: You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have three (3) years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-13 level. Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.
