Essential Functions Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum. Work full‑day duty at the assigned location. Assess student abilities in relation to educational goals and standards. Plan and employ a variety of instruction and learning strategies suitable for student needs. Manage student behavior in classroom and across the site. Communicate instructional expectations, progress, and lack of progress to students and parents. Assess, document, and maintain student achievement records for reporting. Collaborate with program personnel on instructional goals and curriculum. Participate in professional growth activities, staff meetings, in‑service, and staff development sessions. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress. Ensure classroom environment is attractive, healthy, safe, and conducive to learning. Participate in extracurricular activities as requested. Participate in IEP meetings for IDEA students. Display knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, equipment, and student growth. Study and apply current research and theory. Plan and implement lessons based on objectives and student needs. Establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, peers; advocate as part of Family Advocate System. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Exhibit excellent human relations skills. Maintain physical and emotional ability to perform required work in a fast‑paced environment. Monitor student work and behavior. Show patience, caring, and commitment to student success. Take attendance and keep registers per Board policy. Know and follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments. Remain courteous and professional at all times. Maintain neat and professional appearance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Meets employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education. Kansas teaching certificate in area of instructional responsibility. Communication & Organization Maintain communication with school personnel, parents/guardians, and utilize technology effectively. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and handle various concrete variables with limited standardization; interpret varied instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, curriculum, and correspondence; present information and respond to questions effectively. Physical Demands Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear; specific vision required includes close vision, distance vision, depth perception. Work Environment Noisy environment typical for the job; direct responsibility for students' safety, work output, and well‑being.
