Registered PRN Nurse - SCI Dallas

POSITION As a Registered PRN Nurse with SCI Dallas, you will provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to inmates, helping to create a safer, healthier environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position focuses on providing essential nursing care to individuals with a wide range of medical needs. The work supports the health and safety of the inmate population while ensuring high quality clinical services. Nursing Care: Deliver vital sign checks, medication administration, treatments, and restorative techniques Patient Support: Assist inmates with daily living activities and provide health education and counseling Emergency Response: Perform assessments and administer first aid, CPR, or AED during urgent situations Record Management: Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare reports for transfers or releases Team Communication: Share shift updates and communicate key information to staff and supervisors Supply Oversight: Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies The PRN Nurse works an on‑call intermittent basis in a State Correctional Institution. WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Per Diem employment. Work Hours: up to 48 hours bi‑weekly. Every other weekend, one major holiday, and one minor holiday per year. Per Diem employees work all shifts as needed (shifts vary): 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: Not available for this position. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly salary of $50.52. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one (1) year, as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply. At appointment, proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license must be provided. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
