Social Worker II – Night Shift (15 hours weekly) The Social Worker II fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community agency representatives, and visitors. The role provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment for identified patients and, based on findings, facilitates interventions. Responsibilities include supporting families, crisis intervention, grief and loss support, providing referrals to child protection and law enforcement, and collaborating with teams for timely discharges. The position is part-time covering the ED and inpatient units overnight, with a shift every Friday and every other Saturday from 10 pm to 8:30 am. Qualifications Minimum Education : Master's Degree in Social Work (Required) Minimum Experience : 3 years post MSW experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge : Excellent communication skills. Ability to relate to divergent patient populations. Sensitivity to individuals from varied backgrounds and cultures. Required Licenses and Certifications : Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the District of Columbia; additionally, licensure in MD and/or VA if services are provided in those jurisdictions, including telemedicine (Required). Functional Accountabilities Develop and implement comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention plans, and documentation in patient’s medical record. Facilitate child protection processes and follow‑up services. Provide crisis intervention, grief support, and referrals to community resources. Educate staff on psychosocial issues, child abuse, domestic violence, de‑escalation techniques, and family dynamics. Participate in patient care conferences and multidisciplinary communication. Advocate for patient and family needs within the hospital system and community. Identify, recommend, and secure appropriate external resources. Remove complex barriers to optimal outcomes through conflict mediation and solution research. Provide mentorship and support to junior staff and interns. Contribute to education of MSW students and review of policies and procedures. Organizational Accountabilities Anticipate and respond to customer needs and follow up until needs are met.
