Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts. Position Summary: The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period. The faculty is responsible for managing this course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades. MassBay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors to teach in-person Introductory and Intermediate Spanish Language courses on the Wellesley and Framingham campuses. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/programrequirements and student learning outcomes to meet graduationcompetencies as appropriate; Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding; Maintain excellent communication with students, department and division staff throughout the semester; Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning; Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates; Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Spanish language, second language acquisition, linguistics, education, or related field; Fluency in foreign language; Knowledge, understanding, and experience teaching of foreign cultures; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Community College experience strongly preferred; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body; Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning; Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.
