Outside Sales Representative – New Business Development

On-target earnings: $70,000–$80,000 annually, with earning potential exceeding $150,000 for top performers

About the Role
An established wholesale distribution company is expanding its sales team. We’re seeking motivated Sales Representatives who enjoy prospecting, building relationships, and turning new opportunities into long-term customers.
This role focuses primarily on new business development. You’ll identify prospective customers, conduct outbound outreach, follow up on opportunities, and develop new accounts. Product and industry training will be provided, so prior industry experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Generate new business through outbound calls, referrals, networking, customer visits, and targeted outreach
• Identify prospective accounts and key decision-makers
• Learn about customers’ needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
• Prepare or coordinate quotes, pricing, and proposals
• Follow up consistently throughout the sales process
• Convert qualified prospects into purchasing customers
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline and accurate CRM records
• Meet established goals for sales activity, new accounts, revenue, and gross profit
• Coordinate with internal teams to provide a smooth customer experience
• Attend customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events as needed

Qualifications

• Sales, business development, account management, or B2B experience preferred
• Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable making outbound calls and approaching prospective customers
• Persistent, organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented
• Able to manage multiple prospects and follow-up commitments
• Comfortable working toward measurable sales goals
• Able to learn and explain product information
• Familiarity with CRM software, email, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
• Experience in wholesale distribution, construction, plumbing, industrial products, waterworks, or municipal sales is a plus but not required.

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation
• Willingness to travel locally for customer visits and business-development activities
• Availability for occasional meetings or industry events outside regular business hours
• Ability to lift or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Compensation and Work Location
This is a full-time, in-person position based at the company’s office, with local field activity as needed. It is not a remote role.
The starting base rate is $16.90 per hour, approximately $35,152 annually based on a 40-hour workweek, plus commission. Expected on-target earnings are $70,000–$80,000 annually , with the potential for top performers to earn more than $150,000 .
Approved mileage and authorized business expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.
