Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! At Kansas Gastroenterology, we are dedicated to the patient experience, including quality and satisfaction. As a Medical Assistant, you will be providing support alongside physicians and physician assistants, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, commitment to achieving performance measures, a high level of energy and self-motivation, and is a dependable professional. This position is in office, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. No weekends or on-call required.

Responsibilities 

• Clinical medical assisting responsibilities that may include rooming patients, checking vital signs, and entering patient history and medications into the EHR
• Reviewing charts for records
• Medication prior authorizations - working with PA software
• Apply for patient assistance programs as needed
• Triage patient calls and portal messages
• Be able to effectively communicate provider results to patients
• Assist doctors with basic medical care and procedures
• Track lab results, call in prescriptions, and handle basic medical office duties
• 75% direct clinic care, 25% phone work
• Must be able to prioritize work, multitask, and meet deadlines
• Interpersonal communication skills necessary in order to deal effectively and courteously with patients and their families, providers, and coworkers
• Ability to type a minimum of 40wpm
• Dependable and punctual

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred, but not required
• CPR certification
• Minimum six months experience preferred, but not required. Starting pay is based on experience. 
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail
