Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

The emergency room provides service for a variety of conditions. Nurses will work in a fast-paced environment, managing a diverse patient population. The daily patient volume typically averages 66. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4. A triage area is available, and travelers with triage experience are welcome. Patients in the emergency room may include stroke, STEMI, sepsis, chest pain, and behavioral health cases. Psychiatric patients have designated rooms available. Security personnel are present 24/7 within the emergency department. Registered nurses are responsible for drawing labs and managing common drips. Respiratory therapy is available on an as-needed basis, with certain responsibilities shared with registered nurses. Telemetry monitoring is conducted by both technicians and registered nurses. Transport for imaging and lab work is coordinated within the department. Weekend work every other week is expected, along with some holiday shifts. Floating to other units is not required. Scrub color is royal blue. A collaborative and respectful team environment is prioritized. Accountability and professionalism are valued in all interactions. Most travelers find the experience positive and often choose to extend their assignments. Nurses will be expected to perform their duties with respect for all team members. Cancellation of shifts may occur under specified conditions. Charting is completed using an electronic health record system.
