General Description: The Building Maintenance Specialist performs responsible skilled work in the maintenance, repair, modification, installation and construction of buildings and facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

About the Division:

Facilities Maintenance Services provide proactive maintenance, make repairs, coordinate renovations, and incorporate life-cycle management for all City facilities. As a Building Maintenance Specialist you will work alongside other maintenance professionals to ensure the City buildings are maintained to a high level.

The salary posted is the full salary range for this position. The starting salary is expected to be in the range of $38,078.51 - $49,502.06 depending on experience and education.

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Performing building maintenance and repair work; remodeling buildings; performing preventative maintenance tasks. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. • Assists with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, lighting, masonry and related building maintenance work.
• Assists with building rooms and additions and remodeling existing rooms/buildings.
• Picks up and delivers materials to job site.
• Unstops commodes; repairs leaks; changes wax seals, flush valves and vacuum breaker.
• Changes light bulbs.
• Cleans and changes filters; checks belts on motors.
• Moves office furniture, computer paper; helps install computer wire.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Required Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. Preferred: HVAC maintenance background.
