Navy Pier, an entertainment and convention venue that encompasses more than fifty acres of parks, gardens, shops, restaurants, family attractions and exhibition facilities. Drawing a combined 12 million visitors a year, Navy Pier has become a magnet of culture, drawing many visitors each year to the beautiful lakeshore of Chicago. 

We are currently seeking a 3rd Shift Event Manager for the Aramark / Globetrotters LLC facilities operation at Navy Pier.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach when interacting with visitors, clients, and employees.
• Identify, address, and help resolve interpersonal conflicts among team members in a professional and timely manner.
• Partner with the Director of Operations and other managers to plan daily operations, prioritize work, and distribute assignments effectively.
• Oversee the timely and successful execution of major building projects and special assignments.
• Ensure all equipment is properly collected, accounted for, and secured at the end of each shift.
• Lead the implementation and ongoing execution of the 5S methodology, ensuring equipment, workspaces, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and operational.
• Train, coach, and instruct employees on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and the proper use of equipment and cleaning products.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate daily priorities, safety reminders, operational updates, and performance expectations.
• Ensure compliance with all departmental and corporate cleaning standards, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to established operating systems and training programs to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations and local, state, and federal safety requirements.
• Respond promptly to operational issues and areas requiring immediate attention throughout the facility.
• Submit work orders for maintenance repairs and monitor completion as needed.
• Promote, model, and enforce all facility safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain equipment, storage rooms, supply closets, and stockrooms in a clean, organized, and fully operational condition.
• Conduct inspections of assigned areas a minimum of three times per day to ensure employees are performing assigned duties effectively. Provide recognition for strong performance and corrective coaching when necessary.
• Participate in and support company recognition and employee engagement initiatives.
• Meet with employees and union representatives to administer coaching, document performance concerns, and implement progressive discipline in accordance with company policy and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Develop, manage, and monitor schedules for full-time and part-time frontline employees using the company's scheduling software.
• Utilize corporate systems, online platforms, and databases to ensure operational accuracy, compliance, and documentation requirements are met.
• Supervise and manage the overall housekeeping operation, including restroom, project, and public area teams.
• Monitor employee productivity and ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and within established timeframes.
• Provide operational leadership support by serving as relief coverage for housekeeping management and assisting with meeting room setups and operational needs during evening and overnight shifts as required.
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a housekeeping, facilities, or event operations environment.
• At least one (1) year of hands-on experience operating and overseeing event and housekeeping equipment, including but not limited to floor care machines, housekeeping carts, compactors, and the setup and breakdown of event equipment. Experience reading and interpreting floor plans is required.
• Demonstrated experience supervising and leading a team of at least 15 employees simultaneously.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, and high-pressure environment while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience with the Aramark Quantum Leap program is preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages, is preferred.
• Previous experience supervising or managing unionized employees and working within a collective bargaining environment is preferred.

Shift Requirements:

The Aramark/Globetrotters operation at Navy Pier is a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The standard schedule for this third-shift position is 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.; however, hours may vary based on event schedules and operational demands. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support business operations.

Physical Requirements:

The Event Manager is responsible for overseeing operations throughout the Navy Pier facility during events and must be able to remain actively engaged on the event floor for extended periods. This position requires prolonged walking and standing, which may exceed eight (8) consecutive hours. The Event Manager is expected to spend approximately 80% of the workday actively monitoring operations throughout the facility. The role also requires the ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and occasionally lift and move equipment or supplies necessary to support event operations.

Salary Range : Up to $65,000 based on experience.
