Social Worker (school-based)

School Social Worker Compensation Range: $56-61/hour Location : Westland, MI; Onsite – School Setting Position Summary The School Social Worker acts as a vital link between families, schools, and communities. They provide emotional, behavioral, and mental health support to help students access the general education curriculum. They serve as a mental health service provider involved in proactive, preventative activities, as well as responding to identified concerns. Also, they provide services based on a combination of problem-solving, consultative, and direct service models. Responsibilities Schedule / Shift: Shift details: School Day Schedule Hours per week: 37.5hours per week Contract length: 3 months Key Duties Provide social emotional learning support for students (general education and special education) through implementation of SEL competencies Observe, assess social emotional skills of students and determine eligibility for interventions as appropriate Observe, develop, implement, monitor and modify intervention plans based behavior assessment of student as appropriate Support staff in understanding and implementation of SEL competencies Complete documentation of student and family contacts Provide support for multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and the building/district crisis team Complete IEP, MET, Medicaid and treatment forms/reports Maintain treatment/progress notes and Medicaid documentation per professional standards Requirements Master's Degree or Higher in Social Work Licenses & Certifications Licensed School Social Worker per R340.1792 and R340.1799f Pediatric experience preferred Skills Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of content and teaching methods in area(s) of counseling assignment. Demonstrated knowledge of the developmental needs of students. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students, and parents. Demonstrated understanding and empathy necessary for working with students.
