Truck Loader

The Truck Loader is responsible for safely and efficiently loading bulk materials while ensuring load accuracy, product quality, and proper documentation. Working with moderate supervision and increased responsibility, this position operates automated loadout systems, troubleshoots minor equipment and operational issues, and supports quality control throughout the loading process. The Truck Loader also assists with training, shift coordination, equipment inspections, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate truck loading and unloading systems, automated control programs, and related loadout equipment.
• Guide truck movement using radios, hand signals, or electronic signaling systems.
• Coordinate daily loadout activities, employee breaks, and work assignments to support efficient operations.
• Communicate effectively with crew members, drivers, customers, and management.
• Lead and support the crew during equipment and facility start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures.
• Train and assist new employees on loadout procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Monitor product quality during loading and take appropriate action when irregularities are identified.
• Accurately complete and review shipping documents, load records, inspection forms, and other required paperwork.
• Monitor and report facility conditions, equipment status, and bin levels to management.
• Identify, report, and troubleshoot minor operational, equipment, quality, and safety issues.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and general maintenance tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing debris, spilled material, and other potential hazards.
• Read and interpret safety, operational, and maintenance manuals.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and provide thorough shift-change handoffs.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and U.S. Silica Core Values.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Loadout Operator, Truck Loader, or in a similar industrial or process-related role.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, product quality, and customer service.
• Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, time-management, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during all seasons.
• Ability to climb multiple levels using stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms.
• Ability to perform physical labor and safely use hand tools, including shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn operational and business software systems.

Preferred

• Previous experience in mining, bulk-material handling, manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment.
• Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations.
• Forklift operating experience.
• Warehouse or shipping experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HMI systems, JD Edwards, Salesforce, or similar software.
