Manager, Medical Staff Services - Med Staff - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

The Medical Staff Manager oversees and manages the overall work flow for her/his own Medical Staff meetings and/or credentialing and other Medical Staff activities. Serves as backup to Director of Medical Staff Administration. Essential Duties: Responsible for supervising work assignments of staff, in collaboration with Director Responsible for supervising medical staff administration personnel. Responsible for Team oversight for monitoring and maintaining records of medical staff proctoring Responsible for assigned medical staff committee and service meetings. Responsible as resource person, interacting with Chief of Staff and other appropriate medical staff officers, chairs, chiefs and Administrators to facilitate communication and flow of information. Responsible as a lead person for supporting the Director in complying with all regulatory requirements, medical staff deadlines and the Hospital Mission and Core Values. Assist Director in the development of policies and procedures related to Medical Staff Administration and Medical Staff/Allied Health Professionals. Assist Director in the development, maintenance and distribution of privilege forms. Maintain current knowledge of Joint Commission standards for program accreditation.. Communicates with Director about interpretation and compliance of accreditation requirements. Helps prepare institution for site visits and coordinates internal review process. Participates in ongoing staff education related to regulatory requirements. Coordinate medical staff activities in compliance with Joint Commission, Title 22, CMS and hospital and medical staff bylaws. Maintain current knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing medicine. Maintains current knowledge of legal principles of credentialing. Maintains current knowledge of State and Federal confidentiality laws affecting physician record keeping. Maintains knowledge of current legal cases effecting medical staff services/credentialing/privileging decisions. Oversees maintenance of database on all credentialed practitioners, in collaboration with Office of Integrated Credentialing Office and Medical Staff Administration Team Demonstrates competency with Microsoft Office products. Use of Internet as a resource related to job functions/oversight Use of MedStaff credentialing software Projects cooperation and hospital core values to all customer groups Coordinates and communicates department services on intradepartmental and hospital wide levels. Outlines plans for provision of services through the Hospital Plan for provision of Patient Care and Services, by documenting levels of qualified, competent staff. Policies and procedures are in place to support scope of services. Establishes and maintains performance improvement and quality control activities which support the department and the hospital, in collaboration with the Director Provides for orientation, training, and continuing education of staff in collaboration with the Director Approves Kronos and manages attendance Monitor space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resource. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Req High School or equivalent Req Bachelor’s Degree Degree in a related field Req 5 years Experience as a lead, supervisor or manager in medical staff 250 plus bed hospital with departmentalized medical staff Req Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. Req Organization/time management skills. Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Req Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision. Req Leading/ guidance skills Preferred Qualifications: Pref Master’s degree Degree in a related field Pref Medical Staff Services Certification Valid CPMSM and/or CPCS certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Service Required Licenses/Certifications: Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158,230.00.
