Clinic Nurse Manager The Clinic Nurse Manager is accountable for the quality of patient care, operational efficiency, and personnel management for assigned area(s). The Manager provides leadership and guidance to Medical Assistants (MAs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and other clinical and administrative staff supporting clinic operations, performs complex administrative and clinical duties, and serves as the primary point of contact for physicians, staff, patients, and external departments. The Manager ensures patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality, maintains compliance with infection control standards, and aligns care delivery with professional standards and hospital policies. The role includes serving as the primary competency validator and educator for clinical staff and overseeing complex, independent problem‑solving while supporting shared governance and Magnet principles to achieve a cost‑effective patient experience. Essential Duties Serve as the primary clinical leader for the outpatient clinic, providing direct clinical oversight, leadership, and guidance to LVNs and MAs. Provide clinical supervision of the clinic LVNs in compliance with state nursing regulations and organizational policy. Partner closely with a non‑clinical supervisor to support operational workflows, staffing coordination, and administrative functions while retaining accountability for clinical standards and patient care. Promote effective communication and collaborative working relationships among clinical staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams. Recruit, onboard, develop, manage performance, and retain clinical staff in alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with Human Resources and the Education Department to ensure appropriate orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education for staff. Manage and supervise staff to achieve institutionally determined standards, including communication with staff, physicians, and patients; providing feedback, goal setting, responding to needs, mentoring and coaching staff to achieve performance improvement; monitoring workflow and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures; recommending and implementing changes as necessary to maintain efficiency. Maintain a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers by communicating performance standards and expectations to clinic staff, coaching and mentoring staff, administering customer satisfaction surveys and responses, and orienting and training staff on specific clinic work processes. Organize and direct operational processes including access to care, telephone service/response times, clinic dwell times, practice and procedure changes, insurance verification, timely submission and completeness of charges, billing compliance, cancellations/bumped appointments, referral tracking and follow‑up, registration, quality control of correspondence, scheduling, and staffing to ensure excellent patient care and service. Ensure successful financial performance of the clinic, including monitoring adequate financial controls for appointments, charges, and payment functions; working collaboratively with transplant administrative leadership to develop the clinic budget; tracking performance and variance to budget; ensuring appropriate accounting practices and procedures; preparing and submitting various budgetary reports; overseeing purchasing and expense management; and collaborating with the business manager and team leader to ensure successful collection efforts. Design, execute, and maintain an effective system of internal controls that provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable. Administer use of facilities, equipment, and space, as well as maintenance and repair of existing facilities and equipment. Work in close collaboration with transplant administrative leadership, transplant physicians, and coordinators. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). Computer literate in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and evaluation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service. Commitment to continuous quality improvement and results‑driven outcomes. Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams. Ability to bridge the gap between administrative demands and clinical needs. Knowledge of outpatient clinical operations, nursing practice standards, and regulatory requirements. Organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of people‑management practices, including staffing, performance management, and employee development. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing or in progress (strongly preferred). Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nursing Administration, or related graduate‑level education. Two (2) years of experience in a management position. One (1) year of transplant experience. Required Licenses & Certifications Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing) with a valid California license. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).
