Nurse Manager - OHNS Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Overview The Nurse Manager holds 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care, efficiency of operations, and human resources management for area(s) assigned. S/he will strive to achieve the optimal patient experience in a cost-effective manner, while applying evidence-based leadership and practice. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the provision of safe patient care, in a manner that is consistent with the professional standards and hospital policies, and promotes a positive, professional environment. Responsibilities The Nurse Manager directs nursing practice, education, and services; serves as a personal contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments; oversees patient care and services, clerical functions and financial management; and supports the Service Line Director for all clinical aspects of the service line, including support for satellite operations as needed. Essential Duties Directly or indirectly supervise all subordinate staff. Recruit, screen, hire, orient, and train staff. Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback; counsel, discipline, or terminate employees as required. Train all clinical staff to ensure compliance with organizational policies and maintain staff records. Make recommendations for promotions, terminations, and salary decisions; evaluate employee performance. Serve as coach and mentor to staff. Perform daily rounding with purpose on staff, providers, and patients. Participate in monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care. Review patient care programs to determine effectiveness in meeting established goals for care, treatment, and/or procedures. Initiate appropriate action to correct or enhance patient care programs; investigate and resolve incidents, complaints, or suggestions. Record and investigate all incidents/accidents that occur; correct deficiencies and prepare documentation or explanation as needed. Liaise with other departments to facilitate problem resolution. Ensure patient care is rendered in accordance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards and federal and state regulations. Participate in policy formation, long-range planning, and policy making for the hospital and the department. Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures; ensure adherence and provide interpretation as needed. Assist in development and management of the budget; authorize expenditures and direct purchasing activities. Assess staff education needs and oversee development of education programs; promote staff participation in educational opportunities. Administer use of facilities, equipment and space, as well as maintenance and repair of existing facilities and equipment. Promote effective communication and working relationships between staff, providers, and departments; communicate information, assignments, priorities, and special requests to staff. Manage the clinic schedule and workload of staff; approve time off requests, complete payroll activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Minimum 3 years of experience as an RN. Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or charge nurse position. Computer literate in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service. Commitment to continuous quality improvement and results‑driven outcomes. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team. Organization/time management skills. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing or in progress. Experience in the field of Internal Medicine. Experience in an Acute or Ambulatory setting. Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing) with a valid California license. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration.
