Clinical Dietitian (Cap I) - New River Valley Medical Center

Employment Status: Part time. Shift: Day (United States of America). Facility: 2900 Lamb Cir - Christiansburg. Requisition Number: R158235. Clinical Dietitian (Cap I) – New River Valley Medical Center. Responsibilities Conduct outpatient nutrition counseling for adult and pediatric patients, cardiac rehab, and oncology. Provide inpatient consults and outpatient referrals, establishing appropriate plan of care. Perform individualized nutrition assessments and evaluations for patients of all ages. Develop, implement, and document medical nutrition therapy plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Coordinate advanced and specialized nutrition support (enteral/parenteral) according to ASPEN guidelines. Document recommendations, monitor changes, and track patient outcomes. Facilitate development and implementation of nutrition care policies, procedures, and protocols. Evaluate and track data for quality improvement measures; make recommendations to improve quality. Develop and oversee educational materials and group instruction activities. Serve as nutrition educator to medical students, residents, physicians, nurses, and staff. Conduct media interviews and write articles for publication. Possibly serve as clinical preceptor for dietetic interns. Collaborate with physicians and team to develop evidence-based protocols and educational programs. Act as liaison between nutrition services and other departments. Assist Director of Clinical Nutrition with performance improvement and quality assurance projects. Qualifications & Required Experience Education: Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or Dietetics or equivalent; 4 years of experience required for those who graduated before Jan 1, 2024. Master’s degree required for new Registered Dietitians who graduated after Jan 1, 2024. Experience: Completion of an American Dietetic Association approved internship or clinical experience required. Licensure / Certification: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D.N.) required. Desired: Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.) for the Diabetes Education Program; Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (C.N.S.C.) preferred. Must obtain RDN registration within 90 days of hire and work under supervision until certification is achieved. Other: Effective interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and keyboarding skills required. Must successfully complete orientation and competency for the position.
