Validation Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a System Validation Engineer to validate a connected ecosystem of residential energy products, including Powerwall, Solar Inverter, Wall Connector, applications, APIs, firmware, and supporting device software. This engineer will own system-level test strategies, physical test benches, automated validation frameworks, and multi-device test execution. The position requires someone who can move between hardware, software, networking, Linux, APIs, and data to identify failures and ensure products are ready for release. What You Will Do Lead system-level validation of connected residential energy products and multi-device site configurations. Design, build, maintain, and own hardware test benches representing real product environments. Create comprehensive test plans for installation, configuration, networking, device control, interoperability, and new features. Develop automated test frameworks and regression suites, primarily using Python. Validate workflows spanning mobile applications, APIs, networking layers, firmware, and physical devices. Test new hardware products and verify behavior across different device and firmware combinations. Use API calls, telemetry, logs, test-equipment data, and analytics to diagnose failures. Create simulation frameworks where physical testing is limited or additional scenario coverage is required. Partner with software, firmware, hardware, product, and release teams to define testable acceptance criteria. Apply AI and agent-driven tools to test development, execution, analysis, and reporting. Communicate defects clearly and provide detailed evidence supporting release-readiness decisions.

Skills and Requirements

2+ years of relevant validation, test automation, systems integration, or connected-product experience. Hands-on experience building, configuring, or maintaining hardware test benches. Strong Python programming skills for test automation. Experience writing test plans, test cases, test procedures, and acceptance criteria. Experience validating IoT, embedded, automotive, energy, or other connected physical products. Detail-oriented approach with ownership of test infrastructure and results. Strong electrical engineering fundamentals. Understanding of power electronics and control systems.
