MRI Technologist, PRN

This position is accountable for performing quality MRI Imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care. The patient acuity ranges may vary from stable outpatients to critically ill patients. In addition to performing MRI procedures, the MRI Technologist is responsible for performing Diagnostic Imaging procedures.

It is preferred that the MRI Technologist also have experience in performing CT procedures and/or cross-training to become competent in CT. The Technologist must be flexible to float between modalities throughout a workday. In addition, the Technologist must be flexible in their work schedule as necessary to maintain staffing. This position may also include standby calls on a rotational basis with other Technologists.

Requirements include ARRT, advanced MRI certification, state registration if required, BLS certification, a minimum of 2-3 years MRI experience, clinical expertise in cross sectional anatomy, and the ability to prioritize and respond to critical situations.

Essential functions include proficiency in all MRI and diagnostic x-ray procedures, maintaining the safety of the MRI suite, promoting radiation safety, evaluating examination orders, following procedure protocols, assisting in patient transport, familiarity with sterile fields, proficient venipuncture skills, coordinating critical patient transport, collaborating with Patient Services and anesthesia, assessing patient condition, identifying anatomical orientation, maintaining confidentiality, experience in Hospital Informatics Systems, using computer systems to document patient information, verifying charge capture, accurately transcribing physician orders, reporting safety hazards, assisting in identifying indicators for Quality Improvement programs, and initiating occurrence reports.

Physical demands include sitting, conversing, listening, using hands to handle objects, reaching with hands and arms, close vision, lifting and carrying over 20 pounds, pushing/pulling over 25 pounds, and standing/walking for at least five hours per day.
