Assets Protection Specialist

Job Overview Pay Range: Starting pay is $21.75 - $23.75 per hour. Full pay range is $21.75 - $37.00 per hour, based on labor market, education, experience and certifications. Responsibilities Use surveillance and intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure while aiding in the reduction of shortage. Operate Target’s video surveillance system to monitor guests and identify potential theft risks. Implement Target’s Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage. Properly and effectively document cases. Identify strategic resolutions of external theft, fraud, and apprehension. Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by welcoming guests, helping them locate items, resolving issues, and expressing sincere gratitude. Support and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude. Adjust to business and guest needs to drive total store sales, guest service, and profitability by ensuring product availability and preventing theft. Resolve theft by using good judgement and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures. Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics. Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues to relevant stakeholders. Use video systems to monitor theft activity and respond to security incidents, submitting appropriate documentation per AP policy and procedures. Promote a physical security and safety culture by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards throughout the building. Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic, respectful, and creating equitable experiences. Work safely at all times, complying with safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct them when possible. Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement. Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests. Perform all other duties as assigned based on business needs. Qualifications At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet any state or local licensure, and/or other legal requirements related to the position. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed. Effective communication skills. Work independently and as part of a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. Climb up and down ladders. Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy. Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving merchandise up to 40pounds without assistance. Flexible work schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays) with ability to work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks. Work in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements during job duties (e.g., drive‑up, carry‑out). Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may vary.
