Development Director/Major Gifts Officer

Pasa Sustainable Agriculture (Pasa) is a nonprofit located in Harrisburg, PA that, for 35 years, has supported sustainable farms and equitable food systems throughout the mid-Atlantic, northern Appalachia, and southern New England through farmer-driven education, research, and community. Its mission is cultivating environmentally sound, economically viable, and community-focused farms and food systems, and its vision is a world where agriculture nourishes, heals, and empowers.

This is an important moment in Pasa’s advancement efforts. Pasa is committed to strengthening long-term philanthropic support, including through the Tomorrow’s Harvest Endowment, which is designed to provide durable funding for farmer-led education, research, community building, and responsive programming in just and sustainable food systems, as well as planned giving. Pasa will be investing in the future of the organization and adding a new Director of Developmen t to provide strategic leadership over all the philanthropic efforts, complimented by a new Major Gifts Officer to develop and expand Pasa’s relationships with individual donors.

These new team members must have an authentic interest in agriculture, sustainability, conservation, and the essential role farmers play in caring for land, supporting healthy communities, and building a more resilient food system. They must be able to translate complex, mission-rich work into compelling and genuine donor conversations and philanthropic opportunities.

Each must have meaningful and progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, philanthropy, or related external-facing relationship management work. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills will be required in both roles, including the ability to craft compelling proposals, donor correspondence, and case-for-support language. These roles will help position philanthropy as a critical driver of long-term mission impact while building authentic, trust-based relationships with donors and prospects through personalized outreach, meaningful engagement, and substantive connection to mission.
