Job summary 

As a Construction Management Originations Team Lead within Wholesale Lending Services, you will help protect and strengthen the construction loan portfolio by identifying and escalating construction-related risks early. You will guide construction administrators through disciplined document review, clear reporting, and timely issue resolution. You will collaborate with lenders, customers, design professionals, and third-party consultants to support effective project delivery. You will balance multiple priorities, communicate with clarity, and help ensure consistent adherence to internal policies.

 

Job responsibilities 

• Coach and support junior team members through ongoing feedback, knowledge sharing, and on-the-job guidance.
• Perform quality control reviews to confirm work is complete, accurate, and aligned to operational policies and industry standards.
• Partner with team members during the pre-closing phase to identify, document, and escalate issues that may impact the property or transaction.
• Review construction documents to assess feasibility and alignment with loan terms and applicable risk requirements.
• Produce clear, timely risk and technical reporting that enables informed decisions and strong controls.
• Conduct risk reviews for high-profile and high-value projects across the United States.
• Apply construction risk procedures and collaborate with lenders and risk partners on mitigation strategies for complex transactions.
• Recommend practical actions to strengthen risk mitigation and reduce rework or downstream issues.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships through proactive communication and timely issue resolution.
• Resolve escalated construction-related issues by facilitating constructive discussions and driving timely outcomes.
• Manage multiple assignments concurrently by prioritizing effectively and remaining resilient under shifting deadlines.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

• Demonstrated experience in construction management, construction lending support, or a closely related field (for example, architecture, engineering, or general contracting) within the United States.
• Proven ability to review and interpret construction documents (for example, plans, budgets, schedules, and contracts) to identify, assess, and escalate construction-related risks.
• Strong capability to analyze construction feasibility and communicate findings through clear written documentation and risk reporting.
• Successful experience partnering with lenders in a client-facing or stakeholder-facing capacity.
• Ability to review loan documentation to identify, track, and monitor relevant clauses for compliance and risk reporting.
• Track record managing complex construction-related work with a focus on risk mitigation and quality control.
• Demonstrated conflict management skills, including experience resolving escalated issues effectively and professionally.
• Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, standard practices, and applicable building codes.
• Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver clear updates to varied audiences.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints while maintaining sound judgment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

• Experience supporting commercial and/or multi-family construction projects and related loan structures.
• Experience partnering with third-party consultants (for example, inspectors or cost reviewers).
• Strong quantitative reporting skills that support data-driven risk decisions and continuous improvement.
• Advanced influence and mentoring capability, including leading through change and developing others.
• Strong digital fluency and comfort using technology to streamline workflows and strengthen controls.
• Emerging experience with automation and applied analytics to enhance efficiency and manage risk.
