About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Minimum License: Valid New York License Required in Hand to Submit Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Mandatory competency with phlebotomy and placing IVs. EPIC experience is a hard requirement. Description: Registered Nurses are required to possess competency in phlebotomy and IV placement, as these skills are mandatory. BLS certification is required. Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry settings is essential. Nurses will interpret and manage dysrhythmias. Nurses will utilize Rapid Response Teams effectively. Experience with peripheral line care and management is necessary. Knowledge of nasal cannula and oxygen administration is required. Familiarity with portable oxygen tanks and non-invasive airway management is essential. Understanding of isolation precautions and the use of personal protective equipment is required. Patient diagnoses may include cardiac disease, stroke, infection, and pain. Day and evening patient ratios are anticipated to be 5 to 1, stretching to 6 or 7 when necessary. Night ratios are expected to be 6 to 7 to 1, with possible stretching to 8 or 10 if staffing is short. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy. Special equipment utilized includes bladder scanners, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, and lifepacks. All travelers are required to float to different departments as needed. Candidates must be open to working every other weekend. All nurses will be expected to adapt to varying clinical settings and patient needs.
