Dietitian/Nutritionist

Overview McLean Hospital is seeking to fill a full-time Dietitian position in our new Metabolic Psychiatry Center outpatient clinic. This clinic is dedicated to the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders with a particular focus on integrating metabolic psychiatry approaches into routine clinical care. The outpatient services will play a key role in supporting and complementing real‑world evidence on how metabolic interventions, i.e., nutritional interventions, influence patient outcomes. As part of a comprehensive outpatient program, the Dietitian will conduct nutritional assessments, develop personalized nutritional plans, provide education and help patients adopt nutritional strategies aligned with their psychiatric and metabolic needs. This includes guiding patients in evidence‑based metabolic approaches such as the ketogenic diet, ensuring safe, gradual implementation and adherence. In addition to routine clinical responsibilities, the dietitian will assist with activities related to clinical research studies, including patient education about study protocols, development of study‑specific diets, collection of nutrition‑related data, and accurate documentation of study‑related data. Responsibilities Develop and implement nutrition plan of care based on patient needs, physician orders, interdisciplinary health care plans, and evidence‑based standards. Document all nutrition‑related information: assessment, therapy recommendations, care plan, follow‑up data, consultation results, discharge planning, daily clinical activities, and other pertinent orders. Provide counseling, education, and develop resources and materials for patients and families on prescribed therapeutic diets. Partner with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support are provided and monitor compliance with modified diets. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards. Essential Functions Based on multiple criteria including assessment of nutritional needs, physician's orders, clinical data, interdisciplinary health care plans, and standards of quality nutritional care that appropriately meet age, psychosocial and physical needs of patients, the Dietitian develops and implements nutrition plan of care for patients. Summary Manages the comprehensive medical nutritional care of patients which includes providing nutrition assessment, development of nutrition care plans, diet modification, nutrition education, and all activities involved in the nutritional needs of the patient population. Education Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Dietetics required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
