We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Contract position based in Arlington, Virginia. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working on-site, managing core accounting activities, and contributing to accurate financial reporting. The selected candidate will handle a mix of transactional accounting and reconciliation work while collaborating with internal stakeholders to keep financial records organized and up to date.

Responsibilities:
• Manage incoming and outgoing financial transactions by supporting both accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely accounting records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including detailed balance sheet reviews, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Process daily cash receipts and ensure funds are recorded correctly within the accounting system.
• Coordinate check runs and verify payment details before disbursement.
• Maintain organized documentation for accounting transactions and support audit-ready financial records.
• Use NetSuite and Excel to track activity, analyze data, and complete routine accounting tasks efficiently.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting assignments as business needs evolve.• Prior experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with hands-on exposure to core month-to-month accounting tasks.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience completing balance sheet reconciliations and reviewing financial data for accuracy.
• Familiarity with daily cash receipt processing and payment execution through check runs.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and strong Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and record maintenance.
• High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail when handling financial information.
• Ability to work effectively in an on-site environment and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
