The The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for departmental profitability, management of guest dining areas & service staff, menu development, restaurant serving periods and private catered events.The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager supervises all front of house service operations and the restaurant service team to ensure all guests have a fantastic dining experience. Our Assistant Food and Beverage Manager also oversees restaurant supervisors that supervise service staff. The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager works closely with the Food and Beverage Director, Assistant General Manager & General Manager in coordinating and executing Lodge operations and supporting all departments at the Lodge as needed. The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is also highly involved in supporting our youth employment program.The Lodges are also a coveted wedding venue catering to customized weddings, regular and other group business each year in various venues throughout the lodge property. This wedding and small group focus adds additional creative opportunities to the The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager role, which is supported by our Catering Team.You’ll thrive in this role if you:Enjoy helping guests and creating a welcoming environmentAre reliable, detail-oriented and organizedCan balance multiple tasks while maintaining food and safety standardsWork well independently and as part of a supportive teamKEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssist the F&B Director with:Scheduling, training, and managing staffInterviewing and hiringDefining, costing, and pricing restaurant and tavern menusEstablishing structured processes & enforcing restaurant standards, programs, and proceduresStorage and inventory management training/standardsDevising and executing operational enhancementsManaging and coding of invoices and preparing food inventories/transfersCommunicate professionally at all times with all staff and managementSupport team members and interns while fostering a positive work environmentWork safely, address/report safety issues, and use proper personal protective equipmentProvide ongoing feedback and develop staffEnforce policies/standards, and manage progressive discipline & associated documentationDevise and execute operational enhancements and ways to improve the guest experienceComply with work shift schedules and break requirementsPerform other duties as assigned, including additional lodge support as neededEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or GED; college degree a plusMinimum one-year prior work experience in restaurant/hospitality and/or banquet service experienceFood Handler Certification and Responsible Beverage Service CertificationExperience successfully living/working in rural/remote environment preferredCOMPETENCIES/REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong training (formal and/or informal) and knowledge of fresh California-style cuisineExtensive Experience managing a busy restaurant, including financial managementWedding or similar high-end catering experienceStrong interest in straining/coaching and in supporting our youth missionReliable, dependable and punctualWorks well as part of a team and supports othersDetail-oriented with good organizational skillsFollows company policies, procedures and safety standardsAdheres to food handling and sanitation requirementsCommunicates appropriately, supportively and professionallyAdaptable, takes initiative, and able to multitask and troubleshoot in a fast-paced settingDemonstrates good judgment, integrity, honesty and professionalismPositive attitude and willingness to learn and growLeading a healthy, balanced, drug-free lifestyleWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical environment requires employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, and to adhere to departmental uniform standardsFrequent walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, climbing stairsAbility to stand and move continuouslyLifting up to 50 pounds and moving carts weighing 300 poundsWorking with required chemicals and PPEShifts of up to 8 hours per day, plus periodic additional overtime hours and help covering additional shifts when neededNOTEWe are an equal opportunity employer and extremely proud of our highly diverse team and embrace diversity at all levels of the organization.
