Residential Advisor

Detroit Recovery Project (DRP) is seeking compassionate, dependable, and recovery-oriented Residential Advisors to support the daily operations of our 24-hour Youth Recovery Home serving Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) ages 18–24. This position plays a critical role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for youth navigating recovery, mental health challenges, substance use concerns, independent living development, and personal growth goals. The Residential Advisor will provide direct support, supervision, crisis intervention, monitoring, and engagement to residents during weekend shifts while promoting a positive and recovery-focused environment aligned with DRP’s mission and values. Who We Are Detroit Recovery Project, Inc. (DRP) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides integrated behavioral health and recovery support services for individuals with substance use and co‑occurring mental health disorders. Through trauma‑informed, person‑centered care, DRP is committed to supporting long‑term recovery and wellness for the individuals and communities we serve. Our recovery ecosystem focuses on five key areas: Spirituality Employment Education/Training Family & Recovery Support Schedule Day Shift: Saturday and Sunday | 7:00am – 7:30pm Overnight Shift: Saturday and Sunday | 7:00pm – 7:30am Compensation Range This position is supported through grant funding. As a result, compensation is determined by the grant budget and may fall within a designated pay rate or range set by that funding source. Compensation for this position ranges from $20.00 – $22.00 per hour based on non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, credentials, education, and relevant direct care, behavioral health, residential, or patient monitoring experience. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is compassionate, observant, dependable, and able to maintain professionalism in a fast‑paced residential setting serving Transitional Aged Youth. Candidates with experience in behavioral health, residential care, patient sitting, patient monitoring, healthcare support, youth services, or crisis response are strongly encouraged to apply. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and support residents within the Youth Recovery Home environment Promote a safe, structured, respectful, and recovery‑oriented atmosphere Assist residents with daily living skills, routines, and accountability Conduct regular room checks, wellness checks, and safety rounds Provide crisis intervention and de‑escalation support as needed Support conflict resolution and reinforce house expectations and policies Complete required documentation, incident reports, shift notes, and communication logs accurately and timely Assist with meal support, transportation coordination, appointments, and community activities as needed Observe and report behavioral, emotional, or safety concerns to Leadership and Clinical staff Support residents with connection to recovery resources, coping strategies, and independent living development Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA and organizational standards at all times Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Healthcare, or related field preferred Current CPR and First Aid Certification required Experience working with youth, behavioral health, substance use recovery, crisis intervention, residential care, patient monitoring, patient sitting, or community‑based programs strongly preferred Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑stress situations Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Reliable transportation required Preferred Qualifications Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential strongly preferred Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) or interest in obtaining certification preferred Experience as a Patient Sitter, Behavioral Health Technician, Residential Technician, Direct Care Worker, Mental Health Technician, or similar monitoring/support role preferred Experience working with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) populations preferred Experience within behavioral health, recovery, residential treatment, hospital, shelter, or supportive housing settings preferred Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies or crisis situations Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds What’s In It For You Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the recovery community Collaborative and mission‑driven work environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Experience within a growing behavioral health and recovery organization The COVID‑19 Vaccination is strongly encouraged but not required for employment with Detroit Recovery Project.
