Location Medic Headquarters - 4425 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte, NC 282085528, USA Description Join MEDIC as a full-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional pre-hospital care. This non-seasonal role requires 40 hours per week with flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Compensation Compensation ranges from $21.01 to $23.61 per hour based on experience, with a sign‑on bonus of up to $1,500 and the potential to earn up to $3,000 annually through performance incentives. Duties & Responsibilities Assess patients’ conditions, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations to determine appropriate care. Provide basic life support (CPR, controlling bleeding, bandaging, splinting, vital signs, oxygen, medications, other interventions) as required by protocol. Respond to medical dispatchers, drive specialized emergency vehicles safely, and demonstrate mapping and navigation skills. Deliver independent EMT-level care and collaborate with ALS providers when assigned. Provide clinical support to ALS providers for higher-level patient care. Accurately document patient information, medical interventions, response details, and other pertinent information in electronic patient care reports; ensure documentation is complete and regulatory compliant. Provide medical care and therapeutic communication to patients experiencing psychiatric crisis, including those with suicidal or homicidal ideation. Participate in emergency scene management, coordinate with other emergency services, and communicate effectively with patients and families. Safely transfer patients to medical facilities, adhering to established protocols. Communicate effectively with coworkers and hospital staff to provide essential care information. Report any medical equipment or vehicle issues for timely resolution. Attend mandatory training and continuing education sessions to stay current with emergency medical techniques, protocols, and regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Current EMT-B Certification. Completion of FEMA classes IS‑100, IS‑200, IS‑700, and IS‑800. Valid NC or SC Driver’s License. Conditions of Employment Maintain insurability with the agency’s insurance carrier. Show proficiency with agency‑approved driving course. Comply with annual respiratory fit testing. Maintain all mandatory continuing education or in‑service training. Be medically fit for duty as determined by agency‑appointed physicians; able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a threat of harm. Work flexible hours including holidays, nights, and weekends. Position is a critical function; subject to call back and overtime if required. Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting and moving >100 pounds; operate commercial vehicle in high‑stress environment. Adapt to changes quickly, maintain alertness, work under pressure, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, operate effectively in unpredictable situations, and adhere to all work rules, procedures and standards. Access to PHI is controlled via user ID and password. Physical Demands Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. Must lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; operate commercial vehicle in high‑stress environment.
