About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Orthopedic/Medical-Surgical – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. No call requirement. Float requirement to other medical-surgical units based on census needs.

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro-spine unit with post-surgical and medical-surgical patient population
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with occasional flex to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
• Contract length: 20+ weeks, with assignments available through February 27, 2027
• Epic charting system; previous Epic experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• 39-bed unit with average daily census of 37 patients requiring excellent pain management and customer service skills

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
• BCLS (BLS) and NIHSS certifications required
• ACLS preferred
• Epic charting experience required for first-time travelers; preferred for all candidates
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Experience with blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, isolation precautions, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury management
• Charge nurse and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
