Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns, ensuring a safe and supportive environment during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality nursing care during active and non-active labor, performing cervical exams and monitoring fetal health.Perform antepartum care, managing high-risk patients and those requiring continuous monitoring.Administer medications, including IVs and Pitocin, as per protocols.Assist in deliveries and C-sections, ensuring readiness for various patient needs.Support postpartum care, including breastfeeding education and couplet care for stable mother-baby pairs.Utilize technology such as EMR systems (EPIC Stork, GE Centricity) and medication dispensing (Pyxis).Patient PopulationThe unit cares for a diverse range of patients, including those with hypertension, substance use disorders, and low-risk pregnancies, with approximately 175-200 deliveries each month.Patient Ratios1:1 ratio for active labor patients.1:2 ratio for non-active laboring patients.QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required.Current certifications in BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring (AWHONN or equivalent).Strong skills in labor support, cervical exams, epidural management, and fetal monitoring.Experience in postpartum care and couplet care preferred.Support and ResourcesThe unit offers various support, including:24/7 availability of Laborists (OBGYN).Access to a Hospitalist and NICU team for high-risk situations.Telemetry monitoring and respiratory therapy support available continuously.Shared SchedulingThe position requires availability for rotating weekends and holidays, with a schedule made in three-week increments. Shifts are available as either daytime (0700-1900) or nighttime (1900-0700).Orientation and TrainingComprehensive orientation will be provided, including unit-specific competencies and annual core competencies such as HIPAA and OSHA training.Additional InformationThis role does not require on-call duties.
