Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) Location: Louisville, KY Position Type: Full-Time Contract Schedule: 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM | 14 Shifts per Month Pay Rate: $145–$165/hour Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time contract opportunity in Louisville, Kentucky. This role is based in an inpatient setting and is ideal for a PA with cardiothoracic surgical experience who is looking to join a collaborative surgical team providing advanced care to complex cardiac patients. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting cardiothoracic surgical procedures and managing patients throughout the perioperative and postoperative continuum, including coronary procedures, valve replacements, cardiac transplants, and VAD patients. Responsibilities Provide inpatient cardiothoracic surgical care and patient management Assist with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care Manage and round on cardiothoracic surgery patients Support care for coronary artery bypass procedures, valve replacements, cardiac transplants, and VAD patients Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care with surgical teams Assist physicians with surgical procedures and clinical interventions as needed Participate in occasional weekend rounding responsibilities Respond to patient needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in an inpatient hospital environment Required Qualifications Active Physician Assistant (PA) License Active Kentucky (KY) License required Minimum of 1–2 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery PA experience required Inpatient cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced surgical environment Schedule & Compensation Full-Time 6-Month Contract Inpatient setting Schedule: 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM 14 shifts per month Occasional weekend rounding required Hourly Rate: $145–$165/hour Weeknight Call: $280–$315 24-Hour Call: $1,120–$1,270 Call Back Rate: $210–$230 W2 and 1099 options available Additional travel reimbursements available Apply Today If you are an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant seeking your next contract opportunity in Louisville, KY, we encourage you to apply today.
