Overview Ohana Child Development Center provides Montessori/RIE based programming for children 4 months to 5 years. The center serves Bandwidth employees and is located at the Bandwidth Raleigh NC Headquarters. Ohana is seeking qualified guides and caregivers dedicated to respectful, encouraging, and cognitively stimulating programming. Guides will collaborate with Bandwidth families to support children and provide continuous feedback to families regarding development and individual needs. Responsibilities Coordinate with a lead guide to plan and prepare the environment using Montessori and RIE principles. Manage physical care of children (including diapering and toileting) using Montessori and RIE techniques. Ensure the daily care of every child by following all school/classroom procedures, standards, and licensing guidelines. Provide visual supervision and maintain child safety at all times. Observe and document observations regularly for each child. Prepare and maintain the environment based on observed needs of the children. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. Provide appropriate communication and feedback to parents. Model pro-social behavior and redirect children using positive discipline strategies when appropriate. Build relationships with families, children, and co-teachers that respect individual differences and cultural/socioeconomic diversity. Meet regularly with co-teachers to discuss observations, environmental design, curriculum planning, and challenges to ensure coordination and collaboration. Provide developmental reports to parents and conduct parent conferences three times per year. Communicate important information to co-teachers regarding the children and classroom. Maintain a professional self-image and reflect the values of Ohana and Bandwidth at all times. Keep up with required training hours and certifications according to licensing. Be open to applying new teaching and learning strategies as directed by the Director and the Ohana Board. Attend faculty meetings regularly. Working Conditions Works in a normal Child Development Center environment. Must be able to lift, move, or hold children with weight up to 60 pounds. Must be able to observe children from various distances. Must be able to lift children from various heights. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. What You Need Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience: 3 years working in an early childhood setting Knowledge: Child development; Montessori/RIE caregiving techniques Skills: Observation techniques and documentation; strong communication (oral and written) Bonus Points Education: BA or BS in early childhood education or child development; MACTE accredited Montessori certification Experience: 5+ years in Montessori infant/toddler environment Knowledge: Positive discipline Skills: Fluency in languages other than English The Whole Person Promise Company-paid Medical, Vision, and Dental coverage for you and your family with low deductibles and out-of-pocket costs.
