Job Title: Specialist Quality EngineeringJob Code: 46398Job Location: Hanover, MDJob Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days- totaling 80 hours worked- and have every other Friday off Job Description:This Quality Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on manufacturing quality support across production, receiving inspection, testing, supplier quality activities, and program execution in our Hanover MD site. They will serve as the primary Quality Engineering representative supporting assigned programs and customer requirements throughout production and test activitiesEssential Fuctions:Ensure product compliance, configuration control, effective corrective actions, and adherence to customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements while supporting production objectives and customer deliverables.Review test data packages to ensure compliance with procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteriaVerify traceability between hardware configuration, test results, and documentationSupport troubleshooting and resolution of test anomalies and discrepanciesParticipate in product acceptance and release activitiesSupport customer inspections, source inspections, witness points, and quality-related program deliverablesAssist with customer audits, data package preparation, and quality documentation activitiesInterface with program teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to resolve quality-related issuesServe as a Quality Lead supporting manufacturing operations through in-process and final inspection activitiesProvide real-time quality support to production personnel to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, procedures, and workmanship standardsReview inspection results and ensure quality concerns are appropriately identified, documented, escalated, and resolvedDrive containment activities when product or process issues are identifiedQualifications:Requires practical knowledge of manufacturing quality principles, inspection methods, and quality systemsBachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; OR Graduate Degree with zero (0) to two (2) years of related experience; OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of six (6) years of directly related experienceExperience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated environment preferredPreferred Additional Skills:Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems, inspection methodologies, and production support processesWorking knowledge and application of Quality Tools including Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, Control Plans, PFMEA, and statistical problem-solving techniquesExperience with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and understanding of AS9102 requirements and associated documentation packagesKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, Kaizen, defect reduction initiatives, and process improvement techniquesExperience with nonconformance management, root cause investigations, corrective action development, and effectiveness verificationStrong understanding of configuration management, traceability requirements, and controlled documentation practicesExperience using ERP systems such as SAP for quality planning, inspection activities, and material control processesAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documentation, and customer requirementsFamiliarity with auditing techniques and quality management systems including ISO 9001, AS9100, and related regulatory requirementsStrong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentExperience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated environment preferredIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Maryland is $73,000 - $135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
