This position is in the E&S Baltimore and Partnered Sites supporting the Software Processing organization.As the Mgr. Embedded Software Engineer 3, you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes required to deliver software solutions. Additionally, you are responsible for managing people performance, providing excellent staff resources to programs, and the career development of employees. Roles & Responsibilities:Provide technical oversight of design, development, and integration of software componentsEngage with business leaders and customers to understand and drive business executionSupport the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriateDrive sustainable continuous improvement, including by collating and deriving insights from dataGenerate proposal and estimates inputs for new workLead the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodologyGuide the team in compliance with the Internal Software Development Plan (iSDP) and the Agile Development Plan (ADP)Coordinate with other disciplines when needed such as Systems and HardwareCandidates must have strong communication and people leadership skillsManage a staff of up to 15 direct reports, to include managers with direct reportsSet, track, and measure employee performance expectationsGuide employees regarding career developmentProvide technical and business coaching and mentoringCommunicate direction from the higher-level organization and uphold principles of the organizationBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields) with 10 years of experience, Master’s degree with 8 years of experience, Ph.D. with 6 years of experience.US Citizenship RequiredAn active/current DoD Secret clearance. Secret clearance is required to start. Must be able to obtain SAP level access. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance and access for continued employment.Prior experience as a Software Engineering Manager leading and developing a team.Experience identifying risks, suggesting mitigation, tracking defects, developing resolutions, and reporting status.Experience with CAM (Cost Account Management)Management of budget for technical activitiesExperience as an IPT LeadExperience in software functional management (executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, software process leadership, and career goals development)Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of Linux or VxWorks operating systemsExperience with the Atlassian tool set, Jenkins, and DevSecOps best practicesExperience generating proposals and estimates inputs for new workWorking knowledge of software architecture and open standards in use by the defense industryExperience in applied artificial intelligence, including leading AI projects, integrating machine learning solutions into production environments, and guiding cross‑functional teams on AI strategy and governance.Primary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
