Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, Telemetry Must-Have: Telemetry competency Ability to manage 6-7 patients depending on the shift Experience in urology and bowel procedures Description: Unit has a total of 44 beds and a staff of 75. Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 unit secretary. Patient ratios are 1:6 on day shift and 1:7 on night shift. Typical equipment includes telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters. EMR system used is Cerner. Common procedures performed on this unit include TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, and urostomies. Drains include biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, and CBI. Heparin drips and IV antibiotics are also commonly administered. Surgical procedures include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry surgeries, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary surgeries, thyroidectomies, and hernia repairs. Ideal candidates are positive, smiling, and engaging. They should be fast-paced and energetic. Good communication skills with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and the CNA team are essential. Weekend shifts are required; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
