Management Engineer- Duke Raleigh Campus

Summary Support performance management and improvement services for Duke University Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital, and other entities within the Duke University Health System. Responsibilities include managing the productivity management system, labor budgeting, productivity/process analyses, operational support, decision support, performance reporting, patient satisfaction coordination, and performance improvement project management. Hours Day shift Monday to Friday. Hybrid opportunity. Work performed Management Engineering : Develop and maintain labor standards for staffing requirements. Use standards for cost accounting and budgeting. Support leadership with productivity improvement, analyses of departments and processes, and labor variance analyses. Operational Support : Provide project management and analytical support for operational initiatives. Decision Support and Performance Reporting : Conduct clinical analyses to improve care management and quality, coordinate improvement processes, provide routine quality and patient safety metrics, and support the balanced scorecard program. Patient Satisfaction : Coordinate and support initiatives to improve patient satisfaction scores. Performance Improvement : Lead or support performance improvement teams, provide analytical support, and facilitate improvement efforts. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and communication skills. Adept with database analysis and other computer applications. Level Characteristics Level 2 : Works under general supervision. Guidance frequently provided regarding tasks and approaches. Interacts with staff and leadership primarily to gather inputs or review results. Begins to work with leadership to define priorities and supports performance improvement work. Level 3 : Works autonomously. Establishes own approaches and works independently. Sets own priorities with general oversight. Interacts with operational and departmental leadership and assumes an active role in improvement efforts. Level 4 : Works autonomously and coordinates services for the assigned CSU. Provides oversight and workflow supervision to up to two staff. Consults with managers and directors for performance evaluations. Leads improvement initiatives and coordinates the work of others. Minimum Qualifications Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Master’s degree desired. Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Master’s degree desired. Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Master’s degree desired. Experience Level 2: Minimum of 4 years of PS or related experience, or Master’s degree equivalent to two years. Level 3: Minimum of 6 years of PS or related experience, or Master’s degree equivalent to two years. Level 4: Minimum of 6 years of PS or related experience. Master’s degree equivalent to two years. Advanced training or technical skills required for technical lead role.
