Literacy Intervention Responsibilities

- Provide intensive, evidence-based reading interventions aligned to the science of reading, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, as required under the SC Read to Succeed Act. 

- Identify and serve students who struggle to comprehend grade-level text, ensuring early support in accordance with R2S statutes. 

- Administer universal screeners, formative assessments, and progress monitoring tools; analyze results to guide instruction. 

- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement intervention plans and share strategies that strengthen Tier I instruction.

- Communicate with families about student reading needs, intervention goals, and recommended home supports, as required by R2S parent notification policies. 

- Participate in the state-required LETRS or approved R2S professional development for educators delivering literacy instruction or interventions.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate in an appropriate certification field.

- Hold SC teaching certificate with Read to Succeed Endorsement.

- Knowledge of evidence-based reading and math instructional strategies.

- Experience implementing small-group intervention or RTI/MTSS supports.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience delivering reading interventions aligned with the science of reading.

- Experience using math manipulatives, formative assessments, and intervention curricula.

- Training in LETRS, Fountas & Pinnell, DIBELS, Acadience, i-Ready, MAP, or similar programs.

- Strong data analysis and progress monitoring skills.
