Medical Assistant PositionThe County of Riverside's Riverside University Health System (RUHS), Internal Medicine Division is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join their MSC Internal Medicine team located in Moreno Valley. This recruitment will also be used to fill additional Internal Medicine vacancies as they arise. This includes positions within CHC - Rheumatology, Cardiology, Endocrinology and Infectious Disease.Under direct supervision, Medical Assistants assist licensed professional medical staff within the Riverside University Health System (RUHS) by providing a variety of client/patient services, including basic administrative, clerical, and medical support services for clients/patients and the public; and other related duties as required. The most competitive candidates will possess at least two to three years of experience performing front office and/or back office support duties as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting. Experience using the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is highly desirable. Spanish bilingual skills are required. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a County-administered bilingual proficiency assessment. Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. As federally qualified health centers, the CHCs operate on a sliding fee scale to ensure that some of the county's most vulnerable populations receive the care they need.Whether it's preventive care, chronic disease management, Express Care, Mobile Health, or integrated specialty and behavioral health services, our teams are made up of dedicated healthcare professionals who are passionate about making a difference.If you're committed to delivering compassionate care and eager to join a team that truly values community, connection, and making a meaningful difference, RUHS is the place for you!Examples of essential duties include: Greeting clients/patients at reception desk or counter; assisting them in completing necessary documents and applications, answering routine questions and providing information; interviewing clients/patients to gather basic health related information; obtaining medical history and chief complaint, including allergies; assisting patients in ambulation and transfer; performing routine medical data clerical tasks; verifying patient's health insurance coverage; submitting treatment authorization requests into the EPIC database; preparing patients for examination; performing routine clinical procedures; processing physician orders; screening for eligibility for participation in health programs; providing feedback to licensed professional staff; making referrals to licensed professional staff; and performing additional department responsibilities.Minimum qualifications include: Completion of a certification program in medical assisting or graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test and one year performing front office/back office support duties as a medical assistant in a physician's or dentist's office, hospital, health center, or other healthcare setting. Possession of a valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
