Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Know how to set up and rethread wire winders. Know color coding for identification. Familiarization with raw material numbers. Understand and ability to adjust settings on counters for efficient bobbin footage. Know correct wire construction for hoses being braided. Ability to set traverse. Understand and ability to operate wire stripper. Understand and ability to operate all wire winders. Identify and eliminate known defects. Document good and non-conforming product. Correctly fill out required paperwork daily. Train new employees as needed. Pull catenaries. Ability to work overtime as required, including extended shifts & weekends, to meet business needs. Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to the Value Stream Team Lead. Perform related and other duties assigned by the Value Stream Team Lead. Position Summary Operates Wire Winder. Maintain production schedules. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S. Other duties may be assigned at a later time Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education Required High School diploma or GED Experience Production work preferred but not required. On the job training from 1 to 8 weeks or extend to 10 weeks if needed. Preferred Skills/Qualifications Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools. Sound decision making skills. Good math, reading, writing skills. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Strong trouble shooting skills. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention. Ability to work well in a team environment. Skills/Competencies Basic computer skills. Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail. Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection) Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
