CNC / EDM Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

Job Description Summary Job Description CNC / EDM Machine Operator The CNC Machine Operator will work at the Parsippany, NJ Metem, a GE Power business manufacturing plant and operate a variety of production equipment and tooling. You will also have ownership of safety, compliance, quality, and productivity. What you’ll do: Set-up and operate CNC machines to perform 3, 4, and 5 axis machining operations, including conventional milling/drilling, fast hole drilling, graphite shaping on metal castings, forgings, and bar stock according to specifications and set‑up instructions, applying knowledge of machining methods. Study blueprints and set‑up instructions to determine machining required, dimensional specifications, work procedures and methods. Determine tool lengths, maintain tool‑change list and program measuring adjustments. Install work‑holding devices such as blocks and tooling on the machine table using hand tools. Lift and position workpieces on the machine table or in holding devices. Select and install tooling, place electrodes in an automatic‑tool‑changer (if required) in sequence specified on the process sheet. Observe numerical displays on the control panel and compare with data on the process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speed of machining cuts. Check the program at the start of each shift. Inspect the first‑run piece, maintain a measured dimension list, and record and inspect key dimensions for conformance to specifications using a micrometer and precision dial gauges. What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications): Ability to work 2nd Shift. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of one‑year experience in EDM/CNC or tooling production or equivalent. Eligibility Requirements: Ability to lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work overtime as required, including occasional weekend shifts. Pay Transparency The base hourly pay range for this position is $29.35/hr – $32.77/hr.
