Investment Banking Associate

Overview Investment & Corporate Banking Associate – Power & Utilities, Mizuho Banking Division. Responsibilities Lead the design, origination, structuring and execution of mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, leveraged finance and other global products for existing and prospective clients. Identify key industry and product trends; synthesize information to produce pitch and deal materials. Participate in client meetings and business development activities. Draft and prepare pitch books with detailed industry materials for multiple Power & Utilities sectors. Conduct and model a broad range of corporate finance alternatives and due diligence for client transactions, including strategic alternatives, capital structure development, acquisition finance and syndicated loan and capital market financing. Perform financial modeling, valuation, comparable & relative value analyses and market‑specific analysis. Facilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilities. Draft client pitches and marketing materials—including M&A, public/private debt & equity capital markets, syndicated bank financing, and other internal documentation—by coordinating internal and external resources. Assist in financing structuring, underwriting, transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution. Help develop and continue cultivation of client relationships. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of investment banking, corporate finance or capital markets experience with a top‑tier global bank. Extremely deep understanding of the Power & Utilities industry; mandatory experience with banking transactions related to this industry. Knowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets and risk & pricing analysis. Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Maturity and good judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information. Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey ideas clearly. Creativity and intellectual curiosity. Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment. Advanced proficiency with FactSet, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg and Microsoft Office; Series 79 & 63 certification required. Compensation and Benefits The expected base salary ranges from $175K to $225K. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education and applicable certifications and licenses. Successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus and a generous employee benefits package.
