Position Overview

As a Hydraulic Specialist (Travel approximately 80% to plants) your roles and responsibilities will include:

The client is looking for an experienced Hydraulic Specialist with at least 10 years of industrial hydraulics experience. The person will provide technical expertise and support to plants, helping improve the reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance of complex hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of industrial hydraulics, hydraulic drawings, PLCs, controls, preventive/predictive maintenance, asset strategy, and problem solving. Experience with extrusion press hydraulics is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on complex industrial hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and improve hydraulic system performance and reliability.
• Read and interpret hydraulic schematics/drawings.
• Use PLC programming and controls knowledge to tune and troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Develop and improve asset strategies to increase equipment reliability and lifecycle.
• Identify root causes of equipment and hydraulic failures and implement solutions.
• Support projects involving hydraulic systems and plant equipment.
• Help implement organizational and maintenance-process changes.
• Work with plant personnel to improve maintenance practices and system reliability.
• Communicate effectively with everyone from shop-floor employees to senior management.
• Provide technical leadership and influence teams to achieve results.
• Travel approximately 80% to plants.

Qualifications

Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Hydraulic Specialist who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Hydraulic Specialist would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:

• 10+ years of industrial hydraulics experience.
• Strong experience with complex hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic drawings.
• Experience with PLC systems related to hydraulic applications.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and control systems.
• Experience with asset strategy, PdM, PM, and problem solving.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and change-management abilities.
• Project management experience.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 80%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Experience with extrusion press hydraulics.
• Knowledge of hydraulic system lifecycle management.
• CAD experience.
• Experience analyzing data from computerized maintenance/management systems.
• Experience driving reliability improvements in manufacturing environments.
