Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred PALS Must-Have: Comfortable with ventilator management and medication titration. Experience with arterial lines and central lines required. Description: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles. Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty for call-offs. Unit nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3. Common diagnoses include all complex trauma cases, strokes, and burns, as well as general medical and surgical patients requiring critical care. Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy and external ventricular drains preferred. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips. Charge nurse available 24/7; ideally does not take patient assignments. Certified Nursing Assistants are staffed to support the unit. Clientists and Intensivists are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapists manage equipment, with common devices available in the ICU setting. Registered Nurses are responsible for reading EKG strips. Shifts are structured as 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM and 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday requirements include working every other holiday. No call or standby requirement. Expected to float throughout the facility with capped ratios in MedSurg. Professional scrub attire is required. Unit-specific orientation will be provided. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. BSN is not required. Trauma level is 1. Care setting is acute.
