You'll own illustration from concept to final and help shape the visual quality bar for our team, as well as the vision for what illustration is at Roblox. You'll also work hands-on as a designer, applying your illustration craft to Roblox's identity system and marketing creative. You'll partner with art directors, designers, and product partners, and bring a strong point of view on color, light, and storytelling.You Will:Create high-quality, polished illustrations for licensing, marketing, and product contentTranslate briefs, references, and creative direction into compelling finished artworkDevelop characters, environments, and props with strong shape language, lighting, and atmosphereMaintain visual consistency across large sets of artwork while keeping each piece distinctApply illustration within the Roblox brand identity system, designing on-brand marketing materials across surfaces with attention to typography, layout, and craftContribute to brand and illustration style guides and visual standards, helping maintain design consistencyPartner with brand designers, product designers, motion designers, and business partners to deliver work that is strategically aligned and visually compellingPresent work-in-progress and communicate your thinking clearly to stakeholdersDeliver production-ready files on schedule, with clean, organized layers and assetsGive and receive constructive feedback, mentor teammates, and help raise the craft of the teamExplore new techniques and workflows, including tools that speed up iteration without sacrificing qualityYou Have:8+ years of professional illustration and design experience, ideally in games, collectibles, entertainment, publishing, or brand/agency environmentsA portfolio demonstrating strong fundamentals (anatomy, perspective, composition, color, lighting, and environment) alongside strong graphic and visual design sensibilityMastery of rendering rich, painterly, polished illustration in a digital workflowExperience adapting to and matching an established art style or brand systemWorking knowledge of typography, layout, and identity design, and the ability to apply them to marketing and brand deliverablesAbility to take a brief and run independently, from thumbnail to finalExcellent communication skills and comfort presenting work-in-progress and managing stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExperience working with vendors, agencies, or production partners is a plusProficiency in industry-standard tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and ProcreateFor roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
