Jamie Benway with Robert Half is searching for a Staff Accountant to join a mission-driven investment firm in Portland, Oregon. This position supports the finance function within a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on sustainability-oriented real asset strategies for institutional investors. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, a proactive mindset, and the professionalism to contribute effectively within a close-knit team that values both excellence and humility.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including recording transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting accurate financial records.

• Assist with monthly and year-end close processes by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.

• Help produce internal financial reports and provide organized documentation that supports management decision-making.

• Partner with the finance team to review account activity, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances in a timely manner.

• Support accounts payable, cash tracking, and other core accounting operations while maintaining strong attention to detail.

• Contribute to process improvements that strengthen reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and internal controls.

• Use accounting systems and Excel-based analysis to organize financial data and support routine reporting needs.

• Work closely with colleagues across the organization, taking initiative where needed to help the team meet shared goals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, including candidates beginning their careers after public accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and financial data management.
• Solid understanding of core accounting principles and standard month-end processes.
• Ability to work with professionalism in a small, results-oriented environment serving institutional investors.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of assigned work.
• Strong alignment with a collaborative culture that values accountability, humility, and shared purpose.
