Interim Controller

Interim Controller Location: Schaumburg, IL (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week) Start Date: Immediate Hourly Rate: 70 depending on experience (negotiable) Jefferson Wells, a Sikich company, is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a client engagement on a 3–6-month contract basis. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a finance professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys improving processes and cleaning up accounting operations. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day controllership oversight for a mid-sized organization Lead and execute process improvement initiatives, including standardizing and streamlining accounting workflows Address and remediate highly manual, spreadsheet-driven processes Oversee and optimize a complex supplier rebate process Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across approximately $200M in financial flows and $30M in revenue Partner across functions to improve controls, documentation, and efficiency Support month-end close and related accounting activities as needed Qualifications Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader, ideally in an interim or transformation capacity Strong hands-on approach—comfortable rolling up sleeves to execute as well as lead Demonstrated experience in process cleanup, documentation, and optimization Experience managing complex accounting processes (rebates, accruals, large transaction volumes, etc.) Advanced Excel skills required; ability to work within highly manual environments Experience with NetSuite is a plus, but not required Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work in fast-paced environments What We’re Looking For A problem-solver who can quickly assess current state and implement improvements Someone comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity A collaborative partner who can work effectively with leadership and operational teamsaa415a4b-8b21-40fc-a65c-70d2b25ca29a
