Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the safe and efficient collection, processing, and shipment of blood and urine specimens.
• Perform venipuncture procedures to obtain blood samples with accuracy and care.
• Observe and conduct urine specimen collections, including observed and supervised collections.
• Verify patient identification in accordance with departmental policies before specimen collection.
• Properly label, document, and prepare specimens for shipping to the lab.
• Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent customer service when interacting with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Communicate effectively and empathically with a diverse patient population.
• Follow all safety protocols including Universal Precautions and OSHA standards.
• Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Report any low-volume shifts, operational issues, or procedural deviations to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with processing orders and managing office supplies as needed.

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 6 months of proven venipuncture experience.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and punctuality.
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in managing multiple programs, emails, and reports.
• Ability to perform fast, accurate data entry.
• Clear, concise communication skills with confidence and credibility.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience in a clinical laboratory or healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with specimen handling and shipping procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols.
• Prior experience with observed urine collection procedures.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 6 months of venipuncture experience, preferably in a clinical or laboratory setting.
• Prior customer service experience in healthcare.

Other Requirements:

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, including a half-hour unpaid lunch break.
• Location: a professional medical setting in Lutherville, MD.
• Physical demands: able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical activities such as walking, bending, and reaching.
• Dress code: solid color scrubs and closed-toe shoes.
• Certifications: current phlebotomy certification preferred; valid state license or registration as required.
