Insert Molding Engineer I

Merit Medical seeks an Insert Molding Engineer I to conduct research and develop solutions for injection molding processes in medical device manufacturing. The role involves mold tooling validation, prototype development, and technical problem-solving with potential supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research studies on complex injection molding technical problems using novel approaches
- Develop and validate mold tooling processes; generate validation protocols and reports
- Create prototypes, write engineering change notices, and supervise related engineering projects
- Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives in manufacturing processes
- Monitor scientific developments and recommend program changes to management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field plus ten years injection molding experience
- Extensive knowledge of medical device mold process development and validation
- Scientific injection molding principles and training certification
- Experience with plastic part specification, measurement, and CAD software
- Knowledge of mold tooling concepts and ability to recommend design improvements
- Strong analytical skills and independent problem-solving capability
- Working knowledge of U.S. and international engineering standards
