Assistant Dispatcher

Position Purpose The primary function of an Assistant Dispatcher is to work in conjunction with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery materials to customers in the day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforces adherence to requirements. Completes warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Communicate with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal departments to provide updates and resolve issues. Respond promptly to schedule changes, delays, emergencies, and other operational challenges. Maintain accurate dispatch logs, delivery records, service documentation, and transportation reports. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable transportation requirements. Coordinates with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets an acceptable standard and generates positive feedback. Cooperates with the safety team and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims. Will frequently move about inside the office and warehouse. Must be able to operate basic office machinery. Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information. Constantly working in office and warehouse environments. Working Conditions Primarily in a fast-paced office or operations environment coordinating drivers, deliveries, service technicians, shipments, or transportation activities. This role requires continuous communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strategic Thinking: Capable of contributing to strategic planning and leveraging insights to drive growth and operational efficiency. Analytical Capabilities: Ability to evaluate operational and financial data to make informed decisions and adjustments.
